Travelling along the Sayan road, you cannot fail to notice the grandiose umbul-umbul that flank the entrance of The Shop. Situated near Ubud, Bali's artistic hub, The Shop, never fails to open your eyes, to captivate and to tantalize you with a wonderful sense of the beauty in objects around us drawn from unexpected corners of Asia, even the world.

The Shop at Sayan
Occupying pride of place in The Shop at Sayan are some beautiful Buddha items from Burma, Thailand and Khmer, acquired from recent travels down the Mekong. Antique ikat fabric from Sumba and Timor were bought during visits the late-90s; stunning antique sarongs and kebayas were discovered during a spree in Surabaya/Java. Crystal items including candle holders and oil lamps, vases and decanters, some clearly showing Dutch influence, have been collected steadily over many years on various trips to different regions in Indonesia.
